In a media release today, Carers Tasmania welcomed the additional funding in the 2024-25 Budget for Tasmanian Carers.

Carers Tasmania, the state’s Peak Body for informal, unpaid family and friend carers, welcomes funding in the 2024-25 Tasmanian Budget to support our ongoing work, advocating on behalf of over 87,000 Tasmanian carers.

“This funding will assist Carers Tasmania in securing better support and recognition for carers across the State and implementing the Tasmanian Carers Action Plan and the Carer Recognition Act,” said Carers Tasmania’s CEO Dr Samantha Fox.

“We need to ensure that the contributions of carers are acknowledged and that they receive the assistance and respect they deserve.”

Dr Fox is also delighted to receive funding to acknowledge carers during National Carers Week in October. The funding will support statewide events, including over 30 ‘Cuppa with a Carer’ events, screenings of a documentary about carers, and a Carers Expo in Hobart.
